NATIONAL PROVIDER IDENTIFIER
The NPI is effective April 1, 2007. CMS Form 2540-96 has added a new column on Worksheet S-2 for the NPI. All of the Forms will be updated to allow for this change. Please contact your Intermediary if you do not have your NPI.
CMS FORM 2552 – TRANSMITTAL # 16 Extension Due Date For Filing
CMS is extending the cost report submission due date to November 30, 2006, for those cost reports for IRF hospitals and hospitals containing IRF sub-providers with cost reporting periods that ended between December 31, 2005 and May 31, 2006.
Small rural hospitals that are not Sole Community hospitals will continue to receive TOPS through December 31, 2008. To incorporate this change into the form, these providers are also on extension until November 30, 2006.
You can begin entering your data in the current release of software. Your cost report file will be upgraded to Transmittal # 16 when the software is available.
ELECTRONIC (ECR) FILING ON CD
Most new PCs are no longer equipped with 3 ½ inch diskette drives. Some Intermediaries are accepting the electronic files on a CD. Check with your FI. If not, an external disk drive can be purchased for minimal cost.
The following files must be burned on the CD:
2552: EC<provider number>.06a and PI< provider number>.exe
2540: SN<provider number>.06a and PI<provider number>.06a
1728: HH< provider number>.06a and PI< provider number>.06a
1984: HS< provider number>.06a and PI< provider number>.06a
2088:CM< provider number>.06a and PI< provider number>.06a
Win-LASH prompts you to copy the files to a disk. If you are burning a CD just Click Cancel, then locate the files and burn the CD.
CMS FORM 1984 – TRANSMITTAL #7
CMS has issued a DRAFT of changes to Form 1984-99. Worksheet S part 1 has a new line for the NPI. In addition, new cost centers have been added to Worksheet A. When the new software is available we will notify you to download it from our website.
LATEST WIN-LASH VERSIONS
Intermediaries will reject reports filed using the wrong transmittal. Always click Help and About Win-LASH to check the version number of your software. Before you file, please confirm that the version number matches the version number listed on the Download Updates section of our website.
All Versions of Win-LASH are full Windows and distributed on CD-ROM.
